OKAY! So here we are in Munich, carousing with 1-litre beers at the legendary Hofbrauhaus. And though we are drinking in part to put Dachau behind us, that's a tall order in Bavaria. Although not the site of Hitler's infamous early '20s Beer Hall Puscht, the Hofbrauhaus was a significant meeting place for the nascent Nazi Party in the late '20s and early '30s.

The story of its founding is far less sinister. The king of Bavaria wanted stronger beer, so he commissioned Hofbrauhaus to bring it to him. No quarrel with that, especially when it comes in 33.8 oz. servings.
